Kokoxkali - Healing Spaces for women experiencing burnout

Enid's biological research was far reaching and looked at structural models for the built spaces, as well as process models that inform how she might design and facilitate the healing experience.
Biological strategies were interpreted both literally and metaphorically

Brittany Trilford
Project title: Regenerating Rohan Island
Key words: Community building, industrial park, wetland, ecological restoration

Brittany's challenge was centred on a disused, degraded section of river, in Prague – and bringing in a solution that acted holistically; both ecologically and socially.
Her biological research was extensive, and ranged from using biology as a design strategy to the incorporation of local species as part of the solution.
Her design principles were a mix of literal and metaphorical, and her understanding of the ecological functions of each were paramount.
The proposed solution acted across many different levels. A glance of the human, social side is shown below.

Davina Doras Cranstoun
Project title: Coastal Defence & Management of water upstream.
Key words: Climate change, fluid dynamics
*Final presentation excerpt*
All images and layouts copyright Davin Doras Cranstoun.
Davina's challenge was local to her hometown of St Kitts, a small island in the Caribbean, where rising sea levels and poor freshwater management are causing strife.
Davina did extensive research on the context, to really understand the cause of these challenges.
Her first set of research centred around reducing damage from waves, and here she did a deep dive investigation into the physics of mangrove roots. We all learned a great deal from this!
The next step was to convert this into a design, which she then modelled in a fluid dynamics simulator, to understand its efficacy.
The final step was to imagine how this might be implemented, and what the benefits might be.
The second part of Davina's research focussed on slowing the flow of water on land, and here she turned to beavers. Her thorough studies inspired the concept of houses that might slow, store and manage water effectively.
Practitioner Programme testimonials
Our programme is transformational... but don't take our word for it! Here's what our learners had to say.
A great project makes
a great learning journey
The #1 question we get asked is: "How do I apply biomimicry?" and our answer is always: "Start with a project that you are passionate about".
But, finding the right project and challenge to work on can be tough. So we created the Biomimicry Project Playbook micro-course to guide you through this process, and empower you to make your Practitioner Programme a success.

This micro-course contains short videos,
a downloadable template workbook, and a pdf handbook. Everything you need to get you started on your journey.
Ready to become a Biomimicry practitioner?
This is where the magic starts:
Outside of your comfort zone, but within the realm of possibility.
Committing to investing in yourself can be difficult: time, money, having the courage to design things differently. BUT. You know, deep down, that this is where you need to be, and this is what you need to be doing.
You're talented. Nature is genius. Together, you're an unstoppable force for good.
