Why Learn Biomimicry?
VIDEO COMING SOON!
Behind the scenes
Learn Biomimicry was formed out of a partnership between BiomimicrySA (represented by Claire and Jess), and ReWild Africa (represented by Alistair and Sam). From our first collaboration, we realised that by combining our diverse skill sets and our common values, we could work together to create biomimicry education that would not only be beautiful, but accessible too.
We are grateful to the Biomimicry Institute for their ongoing support and encouragement, and to Exxaro for their willingness to share this paradigm-shifting education with the world.
Who is BiomimicrySA?
BiomimicrySA is a regional network of The Biomimicry Institute, and promotes the study and imitation of nature’s remarkably efficient designs, bringing together scientists, engineers, architects and innovators who can use those models to create sustainable technologies. BiomimicrySA connects, inspires, educates, & enables biomimics in South Africa and beyond...
Who is ReWild Africa?
We exist to identify and shine a light on solutions for a wilder world. Working with businesses, innovators and changemakers who value people, wildlife and our planet, we can collectively regenerate, restore and transform the world we live in. Our aim is to create a positive, large scale impact through film, education and experiences.
Who should learn biomimicry?
Anyone who feels that we should be improving the way we design our products, processes and systems, and most of all those who thirst for a more sustainable (regenerative and resilient) world. And anyone who is keen to learn from the most experienced teacher out there – nature.
In our case studies, we feature people who are evolving the fields of: product design, life-friendly chemistry, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, land rehabilitation, materials engineering, architecture, city planning, civil engineering, water management, hygiene and medicine, industrial design, building materials, business models – and so many more.
These courses were developed by BiomimicrySA and ReWild, and sponsored by Exxaro:
